Fools for Heaven is a collection of 25 children's rhyming poems that imaginatively retell true moments from the lives of our holy friends, the saints. The saints included in this collection lived in different periods of times and locations, each with their own unique path to holiness. They lived with a fire for Christ in their hearts- so much so that people who did not understand them called them fools. Indeed, they were fools... for heaven!
The stories and illustrations are inspired by the silly, poetic style of Shel Silverstein. Children will feel captivated by the excitement of the poems and finish with a desire to learn more about these amazing, holy friends. Other features of the book include:
- Watercolor illustrations paired with each poem
- Nameplate in the front allowing children to imagine themselves as a patron saint
- An appendix containing brief biographies of each saint featured in the book
- A special prayer at the end highlighting the virtue of each saint
Written by Stephanie Petters; Illustrated by Emily Demary.
- 36, full color pages
- Matte, hardcover, case bound
"This is a fabulous concept for a children's book! How fun to learn about the saints through poetry. I would love to see this book in print so my kids and I can enjoy it during tea time every afternoon!" - KATIE WARNER, BLOGGER, BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE FIRST FAITH TREASURY BOOKS
"There are Saint picture books and encyclopedias and short stories, but this collection of poetry is such a creative way to highlight the virtuous attributes of these holy men and women. Kids will enjoy the fun rhymes and parents and teachers will be grateful for the inspiring biographical facts found in each poem." -KATHERINE BOGNER, TEACHER AND BLOGGER, AUTHOR OF THROUGH THE YEAR WITH JESUS: GOSPEL READINGS AND REFLECTIONS FOR CHILDREN
